Discover the seven chakras, their meaning, and how to keep your energy balanced with simple practices for harmony and well-being.
Have you ever felt “off” without being able to explain why? Maybe you’re tired but can’t sleep, restless but unmotivated, or just not quite yourself. Often, this sense of imbalance comes from within—our energy centers, known as chakras, are asking for attention.
The word chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit. These spinning wheels of energy run along the spine, from the base to the crown of your head. Each chakra corresponds to specific emotions, physical areas of the body, and spiritual lessons. When energy flows freely, we feel more grounded, joyful, and aligned. When blocked or overactive, life can feel heavy, stuck, or overwhelming.
Let’s explore the seven main chakras and how to bring them back into balance:
Located at the base of the spine, this chakra represents safety, stability, and grounding.
Balanced: You feel secure and supported.
Imbalanced: Fear, financial stress, or insecurity.
Supportive practices: Walking barefoot on the earth, grounding meditations, affirmations like “I am safe and supported.”
Just below the navel, this chakra governs creativity, pleasure, and relationships.
Balanced: You feel joyful, expressive, and open to connection.
Imbalanced: Guilt, shame, creative blocks.
Supportive practices: Dance, water activities, journaling your emotions.
In the stomach area, this chakra is tied to personal power, confidence, and willpower.
Balanced: Strong self-esteem and motivation.
Imbalanced: Low confidence, anger, or lack of direction.
Supportive practices: Breathwork, setting boundaries, core-strengthening yoga.
At the center of the chest, it’s the bridge between the physical and spiritual.
Balanced: Compassion, love, forgiveness.
Imbalanced: Loneliness, resentment, grief.
Supportive practices: Gratitude journaling, heart-opening meditations, spending time with loved ones.
Located in the throat, this chakra relates to truth, communication, and expression.
Balanced: Clear, honest communication.
Imbalanced: Fear of speaking up, gossip, sore throats.
Supportive practices: Singing, chanting, journaling your truth.
Between the eyebrows, this is the center of intuition, insight, and wisdom.
Balanced: Strong intuition, clarity, vision.
Imbalanced: Confusion, doubt, headaches.
Supportive practices: Meditation, visualization, paying attention to dreams.
At the top of the head, it connects us to universal energy and spiritual awareness.
Balanced: A sense of unity, peace, connection with Spirit.
Imbalanced: Feeling disconnected, hopelessness.
Supportive practices: Silence, prayer, meditation, spending time in nature.
